NEW YORK — New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo said his team had a good chance of winning the NFC East this season, despite being without quarterback Eli Manning.
He was referring to the team’s offensive coordinator change, which came Monday.
The Giants replaced McAdoos starting quarterback Ryan Nassib, who was injured in the season opener, with quarterback Matt Moore, who will be the team leader under center.
Nassib has been replaced by Matt Prater, who has worked with Nassib in the past.NASSIB’S NEW COACH: “WE HAVE A GOOD SHOT AT WINNING THIS CONFERENCE”McAdoo, who joined the Giants in January, has been an offensive coordinator since the 2007 season.
He said he’s looking forward to seeing the Giants again in October.
“This is the toughest division in the league,” McAdOO said Monday.
“You just have to win every game.”

McAdoom was fired in December after a 7-9 season.
His contract was purchased by the San Francisco 49ers for $2.6 million.
The 49ers had their own quarterback change, replacing McAdoes starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick with Alex Smith, who led the 49ers to the Super Bowl title in 2015.
Smith was a fifth-round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 2015 and played under McAdowks offense for four seasons, compiling a 3,848-8 record with the Patriots and 49ers.
Smith, 25, is the first quarterback to throw for at least 2,000 yards in three straight seasons since quarterback Peyton Manning in 2007.
Smith had thrown for 3,097 yards and 23 touchdowns in his first three seasons, but that was capped by a season-ending knee injury that ended his rookie season.
The team also lost running back Willis McGahee, who had rushed for 1,724 yards and seven touchdowns for the 49er offense.
McGahee had rushed 16 times for 71 yards and a touchdown in his previous career debut.
McGuire has won seven games in his four seasons as Giants offensive coordinator, including two Super Bowl titles.
McGabo was fired by the Giants following the 2016 season, and McAdano was named his replacement.
McADOO’S OFFENSE: “NassIB HAS BEEN OUR COACH FOR A LONG TIME”McGabos offense has been a top-10 unit each of the past three seasons.
It’s a strong, physical passing attack that has had success passing the ball.
McGahee’s career-best 631 rushing yards in 2016 were a career high.
McMathis had 849 rushing yards and nine touchdowns last season, including a career-high-tying three game-winning drives in the final three minutes of the Superdome game.
McMcMathie has led the team in rushing yards for the past two seasons, with 641 yards last season.
McMahon has started two seasons for McAdos offense.
He had a 1,800-yard rushing season in 2014, when the Giants were in the midst of the Tom Brady era.
McMahons team averaged 24.6 points per game in 2016.
McEVER: ‘I CAN’T WAIT TO GET BACK TO WORK’McGaboes offensive coordinator in 2017 was Jason Garrett, who guided the New York Cowboys to a 10-6 record and a NFC East title in Garrett’s first season.
Garrett, who coached the Dallas Cowboys to the NFC Championship Game in 2016, was fired after a 3-13 season.
The Cowboys’ next season ended in a Super Bowl loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Gibbs had a 3.1-percentage-point average in his final three seasons with the Cowboys, including the 2017 season, when they finished last in the NFC South.
McGregor has won six games in five seasons with McAdows offense.
He’s started three of the last four seasons.
McInnes was fired following the 2017 regular season.
McAdomns offensive coordinator was Todd Bowles, who went 16-21 and led the Minnesota Vikings to the playoffs last season as a coordinator.
McNamara has won four of his last six games as Giants’ offensive coordinator.
He led the Giants to the AFC Championship Game last season and won Super Bowl XLVIII.
He also guided the Packers to the division title last season when Aaron Rodgers was injured and the Giants won the division.
McIsaacs’ career has been derailed by injuries.
He missed the 2017 playoffs due to a concussion and then missed six games with a shoulder injury.
